It is heart warming to note that the Nollywood is fast growing and has become a thing of great pride to Nigeria. Today, the industry has in a way marked our contribution to global culture, creating jobs for quite a large number of our youths as well as generated wealth for the country.
Looking at these remarkable feats of the industry as a reflection of our creative potentials as a people propels the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) to positively intervene in providing support for further development of the industry and rescue it from the short comings that it is facing as a result of the limitation of private entrepreneurship that has driven the industry so far.
The National Council for Arts and Culture took up the initiative of a systematic mediation towards correcting the identified flaws by collaborating with experts in the industry such as the Nollywood Travel Market Ltd. with a view to collectively reposition the business of film making to becoming an effective platform towards contributing significantly to the Nigeria rebranding project, domestic tourism as well as socio-economic growth of our dear nation.
Through this synergy, the Council plans to achieve the following objectives:-
▪ Engaging practitioners in refresher courses by way of improving performance and delivery,
▪ Undertaking periodic training workshops to upgrade technical competence,
▪ Equipping relevant personnel with appropriate cultural impetus in characterization, context and role interpretations; and
▪ Improving on overall package of Nollywood productions among others.
The Council will encourage this synergy with a view to assisting the stakeholders towards improving the standard and contents of our films for greater acceptability. |
