At the moment the Council has established such gardens at Getso, Kano State, Benin, Edo State, Bali, Taraba State and Abina, Ebonyi State and hope to establish more in some specific ecological zones with unique plants worth preserving.
The Herbal gardens are designed to be conservatories for endangered herbal plant species, shrubs and trees of medicinal, economic and social values. It is expected that activities of these gardens will position the nation to join other nations that are tapping huge economic benefits from herbal medicinal products. China, Japan, US and other countries are tapping a lot of benefits from their natural herbs. The gardens are open to researchers and institutional collaboration on the development of alternative medicine. |
