In fulfilling her mandate of developing the young in the field of arts and culture through her numerous children's programmes, NCAC recently completed a summer school workshop on arts and crafts for children holidaying in the Federal Capital Territory. The workshop, manned by resource persons sourced among the Council’s staff took place at the permanent site of the Council, located within the Arts and Craft Village, Abuja from the 8th August to 9th September, 2011.
During the workshop, the 15 participating children were taken through sessions on music, dance, drawing, painting, tie and dye/Batik and bead/knitting. At the colourful official closing ceremony of the workshop held on the 5th September, 2011 the children displayed the various skills they acquired during the workshop to the delight of guests, parents, staff of NCAC and Journalists. The Head of Performing Arts, Alhaji Garba Shehu, represented the ED/CEO of NCAC, Mr. M. M. Maidugu at the closing ceremony. The workshop was coordinated by staff of the performing arts and and arts & crafts department of the council. The programme is going to be an annual one among the array of the council's Children's programmes. |
