- 1st AFRICAN ARTS AND CRAFTS EXPO (AFAC) 2008
The 1st African Arts and Crafts Expo (AFAC) 2008 with the theme: Stimulating Economic Growth Potentials of the Arts and Crafts Sector” is scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria from 14th to 23rd August, 2008. The Expo will draw participation from most African countries and other regions of the world, the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the 774 Local Government Areas, Artists glee, Nigerian Crafts Council (NCC), NGOs specializing on Arts and Crafts promotion and marketing, investors, designers etc. The Venue for this 10-day event is Old Parade Ground, Area 10 Garki - Abuja Nigeria and the Expo is open each day from 7am to 8pm. - 30TH CHIEF EXECUTIVES OF CULTURE OF THE FEDERATION MEETING (CEC)
The Chief Executives of Culture of the Federation Meeting is scheduled for Enugu, Enugu State from the 22nd to 25th of July, 2008. It is a forum where all the Chief Executives of Culture/History and Culture Bureaux of the Federation meet on regular basis to deliberate on matters of cultural promotion and development in Nigeria. All the Directors of the 36 States Arts Council/History and Culture Bureaux, the FCT, and Directors of Sister Cultural Parastatals are to participate at the 4-day event. Part of the issues to be discussed at the forum include:
i. NAFEST 2008 draft Syllabus
ii. Programmes 2008.
iii. Briefs from States/Sister Parastatals
iv. Inspection of NAFEST venues and
Arrival will be on Tuesday 22nd July, 2008 while departure will be on Friday 25th July, 2008. - NATIONAL FESTIVAL FOR ARTS AND CULTURE (NAFEST) 2008
The 22nd edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) 2008 with the theme: “Culture and the Challenges of our Time: Promoting Nigeria Dress Culture” will hold in Enugu, Enugu State Nigeria from 4th - 12th October, 2008. The best of Nigerian Arts and Culture shall be showcased through the following events: Food Fair, Exhibition, Traditional Music and Dance, Traditional Moonlight Games, Traditional Wrestling, NAFEST Colloquium, Arts and Crafts Expo and Demonstration Events. The 36 States of the Federation, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and Foreign countries are expected to be at this wonderful cultural exposition - the festival that unites the nation.
